Reflection: EDUC 630
Today I'm sharing my thoughts with you on my final course in my gradschool program. It is this class, educational technology, that required me to make this blog. And for that, I am incredibly thankful! Feel free to watch & listen or read.
I think one way in which I was especially challenged was to not fear that which I do not initially know or grasp. While I am pretty capable with technology, there is still a lot that I do not understand. This class has taught me a lot about patience and humility. It also challenged me to be more creative.
Another way that I have grown in this class is seeing the possibilities for student collaboration through technology. Sometimes I overestimate, but more often I underestimate my students' abilities. Originally, I thought something like a blog would be too complicated for them to handle. This class has shown me ways that I could easily make that happen for my students. Plus, seeing how many of my students use social media today, I think adding a social media outlet that focuses a little more on professionalism will be extremely helpful for them, especially in my English classroom.
Something I will take with me from this class is how research does not always have to be extensive, and research reports do not always have to be long reviews. I thought the blog was an excellent way to prove that to us as students. Each week we were tasked to research concepts and report on them. I liked that we were challenged to report our findings in different mediums to further well-round our analysis and communication skills.
Something else that I will take with me is this blog. This class is my last one in my graduate program, and I've grown so used to having extra tasks to do during the days and weeks. So I asked myself how I would occupy my time and continue my own personal learning? The answer was clear: keep the blog going. So I will do just that. And I'm grateful that this class was my last class; otherwise, I don't think that I would have kept the blog going.
